I've been following the Devlog for awhile because I think the game is looking great (can't wait!) but I just noticed news of it hitting all the big gaming sites all of a sudden. Does that mean you guys are getting close to release? Hope so! Though I just remembered when Destructoid posted a bunch of coverage of Two Brothers waaaay before it released and then never covered the launch trailer or actual release even once.

No, that’s just the operation “Remain Visible™”

Have you ever seen the anime Bartender, and if so, will this game be anything like that?

Yeah. The game draws inspirations from many sources, and Araki Joh’s Bartender is one of them. That manga (And anime) really nailed the whole “People going to a low-profile bar for a chat that will lead to them solving personal issues” that we were going for from the beginning. Although we wanted to make the characters more… punchy, in Bartender the characters are mostly defined by their problems and we wanted characters that you would remember for being themselves rather than the plot they bring to the table.

Fun fact time! The idea of calling the game (and the game’s bar) Valhalla actually came after remembering that Bartender’s bar in the anime was called Eden Hall.

What synthesizers is Garoad using for the music? I really like that "90's cyberpunk" feel that the music has. I feel almost like I'm hearing a bit of Korg M1, but also some more complex sounds, perhaps a bit of supersaw. One of the pads in "Base Of The Titans"; it reminds me of a patch in Union Jack's "There Will Be No Armageddon". It makes me happy to hear synth music that harkens back to when synth was "THE FUTURE".

Garoad:

All of the synths you hear in VA-11 HALL-A are from VST and Reason. Most of the synth sounds you hear are from the Fairlight Refill (modeled after Fairlight CMI) and Synth 1 VST tweaked a bit and layered together. For instance, the main line of Karmotrine Dream is a layer of a couple tweaked polysynths, a DX Piano, and a subtle brass samples.
