Hey man, I just wanted to let you guys know that if the demo's anything to go off of, you guys seem to be right on track with this thing. I know there's always going to be that pressure to GET IT DONE NOW GET IT DONE GET IT DONE NOW AAAAH, but it's more important to get it done right. People get impatient, especially with this kind of thing, but know it'll be worth it in the end. Keep up the good work.
T-Thanks ;_; we needed to read this, seriously, it’s been hard days as of late with all the crunching, preparing stuff for events, and other shenanigans not related to gamedev. It kinda sucks we have to focus on those sometimes instead of just like make game.

Welp to be honest, this game is what i look forward too the most this year ¬___ ¬ screw those other non-cyberpunk-non-bartending games. This is all i want. Thing is, after my card being blocked from paypal after a problem in my last online job, i cant pay for va11halla thru paypal services. Is there another way that i can pay?
You can get it via Humble Store, but you won’t get the most recent demo because of reasons outside my reach. If you get it there, however, and send proof to sup@sukeban.moe I’ll gladly send an itch.io key that includes everything.

Are you dudes planning on animating what happens behind the character a bit more? Have some no-names moving around and drinking, channels flickering and so on? It would add a lot of life to the game.
Yeah, stay tuned for cool things regarding that. I already mentioned the background will be interactive in more that one way. Sadly, we couldn’t get that feature done on time for PAX, but will be present on the full thing.

Hey, only really found out about this game earlier today after seeing an image. Looked into it and actually totally dig what you're going for, I tried the gamejam version and thought it was amazing. Looking forward to it coming out it's a definite day one buy for me.
Thanks! very glad you liked the prototype. We feel is a tad outdated though, wonder if it’s misleading at this point, since the game so far is a million times better.

Last update was like two weeks ago, is everything ok?
Yeah, sorry for not updating more often. Reason is mostly because we’re crunching to get things done, and that doesn’t leave too much time to answer questions or post progress (since we have nothing we can show outside code and massive spoilers, although there’s fun things this week).
That said, I’m open to suggestions about what kind of progress you all want to know about, also feel free to ask more specific questions about the game.

Is the Pax demo stuff (and/or its soundtrack) part of the final game? I just want to know whether or not I should wait for the full game or play the demo now.
It’s a small, self-contained story. The music will be in the final game but the story itself won’t.
If you play that demo, however, you will understand some stuff that happens in the full game.

The text functions are neat for quickly prototyping things but for anything serious you should be using the buffer system. Lower filesizes, it reads faster and savefiles are harder to modify from outside the game.
Of course! But people need to crawl before they can run. It’s easier to tackle more advanced systems once you get a grasp of the simpler ones…and many (like us after changing engines) don’t even know where to start crawling.
Have you nerds ever wondered about saving systems for games?
One of the biggest hurdles when transitioning from Ren’Py to Game Maker was that Game Maker didn’t have its own built-in save/load system like Ren’Py (Actually, it does, but among other things it doesn’t save data structures like lists or grids)… so in short, we were spoiled and subsequently screwed.
…or were we?
Digging through my hard drive, I found my Love Lab screencaps folder and a little proof of concept project I made some time ago to test a very simple yet effective save system.
But I won’t bore you with the details here. You can pick the project here and skim through a shitty explanation here.
The fuck is going on with Humble?
As you may, or may not know, Humble updates are through friggin’ email. Three weeks ago I sent the demo build so they could make it available to Humble customers, received a mail where they confirmed it and then I proceeded to make the post about its availability, now this happens.
I’m looking into it, and I’m very sorry about that. If you want, I can personally send you the new demo build if you give me some transaction number or whatever proof you bought the game at Humble Store (mail: sup@sukeban.moe). The demo will be available there eventually, but I might have to crush some skulls.
Again, I’m very sorry, can’t help but feel a bit angry about this, it’s your money and time we’re talking about.
