Any way I can donate more to you guys? I already purchased the prologue and soundtrack, but seeing you guys post more and more updates on Twitter makes me want to support you guys even more!

D-Did shitposting actually work for once?!

Man, it’s so cool that you feel like giving us more. But really; if you already bought the game, the best you can do to support even more is spread the love! Tell about our silly game to anyone that might be even remotely interested or, if you’re feeling particularly affluent, buy it for someone as a gift.

If someone wanted to ask you to put one of your characters in a crossover game, would you accepted immediately?

I wouldn’t say immediately, we’d have to know how cool/cute the game is first, but there’s a 80% chance we’ll agree to it.

Aside from ROM, Dana showing up in Super Arcade Machine Alpha Plus comes to mind. If you’re making a game and want to include a cameo (or more!) from one of our characters for whatever silly reason, hit us up on  sup@sukeban.moe and we’ll talk about it.

I just saw the latest story trailer, Jill isn't the player character, right? I thought the PC was a nameless bartender. Its been awhile since I played the prologue, and I don't want to play it again until the full game is out.

For Lenneth’s sake anon, where have you been?! Let me try to summarize over a year of developments as simple as possible:

Yes, Jill is the main character, in fact, you can see her in the “Loading” Screen and game over of the Prologue. We decided to give the nameless bartender of the Prologue a defined identity so we could craft the plot better and make it more meaningful.

At some point during Prologue’s development we thought about letting the player pick between the Prototype’s bartender (Gillian) and a female counterpart, but during the development of Prologue, while we kept things neutral as a placeholder for the pick-a-character thing, we grew attached to Jill and decided to go with her.

…case in point, she’s the one that shows up in the free demo you can pick from http://waifubartending.com/ (Although Gillian will show up as a different character).

Hey there! I was wondering: If you could turn VA-11 Hall-A into an anime, which studio would you get to make it, and why?

Who is the studio that would risk its neck to bring waifus to man?

Can you dig it?

*ahem*

As to why, I’d say because SHAFT has such names as Shinbo Akiyuki or a really impressive repertoire of Seiyuus at their disposal (And I’d lie if I said the idea of an anime where every voice is Chiwa Saito isn’t tempting). But truth is that they’d be the perfect pick seeing as most of their animes are very heavy on the talking and monologues side of things. They can take something that could as well be a radio drama because of how much talking vs showing there is (Bakemonogatari being the prime example) and make it really visually interesting.

VA-11 Hall-A isn’t just a visual novel, it’s a visual novel where 90% of the action is characters talking, aside from the intro there isn’t a narrator to be seen anywhere. That isn’t something every studio could tackle. JC Staff managed with Joshiraku (A Koji Kumeta manga like Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, that was animated by SHAFT) because even if it’s heavy on the talking side of things, it relies a lot on visual gags, and so they didn’t have to get all Shinbo on the whole ordeal.

That, and we kinda took from SHAFT the habit of sneaking references almost every second. So that’d fit nicely too.

A few months ago (when we had the week-long break), we were working on a simple prototype for a spoopy game. We had the intention of releasing it in time for Halloween but the Valhalla crunch was more important, especially now that we are almost content and feature complete.

Valhalla will enter testing phase in November and will give us more time to work on this one, fingers crossed because we really like the concept here, we just don’t have the time for it.

This is a photo of one of the characters.

Some live sprite animation

From today’s stream.

If you want to catch any future stream, be sure to follow us at @sukebangames on twitter, since these are unplanned things outta nowhere and I just kinda sorta throw the link in there.

It’s like two and a half hours, and you can see how I make animatons for the game, with a bonus Musashi drawing at the end that got cut off because reasons.

(no voice because I don’t have a mic yet, most of the fun was in the chat, which was not captured ;_;)

Edit: it seems that my taste in music was too mucho for YouTube and has been blocked in US because of the RED service, so I just deleted the songs that caused it. You should be able to see it now if you’re in the states.

I bought the game a while ago on itchi to but for some reason it never asked me to make an account. I tried resetting passwords with both my emails but doesnt recognize. I did download the OST and the prologue. Now im not sure if i really got the game ready for me when it comes out. Any advice?

Sounds pretty complicated.

When you get a game from itch.io they send you an email with the downloads, if you deleted that email, you can go to http://itch.io/docs/general/support and recover the links introducing the email address you used to buy the game. If you can’t get access to that email account, send it over to sup@sukeban.moe, I’ll check out the purchase history and send you a new key if it’s there. When the full game comes out, you just go to your downloads page and the file should be there, no itch.io account is needed.

That said, I really should make a longer FAQ, since out of the literal hundreds of questions we have in our backlog, most of them are about people losing their links or asking if the game is going to release on Steam…
