Hard to tell. We never thought about Steam as a means to advertise ourselves, nor did we expect it to do all the legwork of promoting the game for us. We always saw it as a storefront with an added prestige and functionalities to it that itch.io didn’t have.
And honestly, we’re still surprised at the reception VA-11 Hall-A had, if anything we didn’t expect it to do so well. Even in the prototype days the voice was spreading at an amazing rate.
